Description of Services:
Supports for older adults, and adults with disabilities * helps people remain active and independent within their own community * referral to other community services

  • Community Outreach - Lifeline Emergency Response Systems Daily 24-hour personal emergency response service designed to help maintain independence and get help quickly in case of an emergency

  • Congregate Dining and Social Programs Social activities and a hot meal
  •  
  • Friendly Visiting Regular volunteer visits to people 65 and older with disabilities or with diseases of aging who live alone, to provide companionship and reassurance * individuals are matched with volunteers who have common interests * activities can include playing games, reading and going for walks
  •  
  • Group Fitness Classes Fitness programs for seniors and people who can benefit from exercise * focuses on cardio-vascular conditioning, muscle strengthening, balance, flexibility training and falls prevention
  •  
  • Meals on Wheels Hot meals delivered in Milverton, and rural areas * call for delivery days to Millbank, Brunner, Carthage, Tralee, Atwood, Rostock, Donegal, Hesson and surrounding communities * special diet types available
  •  
  • Telephone Reassurance Regular phone calls to check on the health and safety of people who live alone * calls are made by trained and screened volunteers
  •  
  • Transportation Non-emergency transportation to local and long-distance medical appointments, adult day programs in Listowel and regular activities such as shopping and errands * accessible vehicles * volunteer drivers * door to door services * trips booked and arranged by Community Outreach Services

  • Wellness for Seniors Includes activities to promote health and fitness, health screening and monitoring and overall personal wellness
