Many organizations have information and services for stroke survivors and their families. Others provide information about stroke prevention. Finding the right organization to meet your needs can be difficult.
For the City of London and the counties of Middlesex, Oxford, Elgin, Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce, a website called www.thehealthline.ca lists detailed information
about many services that support stroke prevention, or that provide services to stroke survivors, caregivers and family members.
Your local Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is also an excellent source of information about available community services. In Southwestern Ontario call your local CCAC Information and Referral Line:

Canadian Health Network
The Canadian Health Network is supported by the Government of Canada. It is a reputable source of information about a variety of health topics. Information is available in English and in French.

This new site by the Heart and Stroke Foundation features information for all of us about weekly meal planning, food shopping, meal preparation and active living. It has a variety of simple and helpful tools you ca use to plan healthy meals, shop for healthy food choices, prepare tasty and nutritious meals and stay active.

This website covers a variety of topics including: nutrition, healthy recipies, physical activity, smoke free living, and workplace wellness.
Heart and Stroke Foundation
The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada has a comprehensive website about stroke and heart disease. The information covers everything from healthy living to how to support a person who has had a stroke. Recently, the Heart and Stroke Foundation added a new section of their site that is multi-lingual and multi-cultural.
Healthy Waists
Where you carry your weight is even more important than how much weight you carry. Visit this website, watch a video, and learn more about your risk for high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
Online learning about Stroke Prevention
A new, easy to read 18 page website from the St. John Regional Hospital in New Brunswick which explains strokes and talks about two important factors to consider for stroke prevention: sodium (salt) intake and blood pressure reduction.
