Managing Well-Being in Aphasia – An SLP’s Perspective

Course Description
This webinar will collate the evidence on the impact of aphasia on people’s social and emotional well-being. Clinical guidelines on managing well-being and the roles of the multi-disciplinary team will be summarized.  The focus will be on the role of the speech-language pathologist, including assessment and outcome measurement.  SLP interventions that directly or indirectly affect well-being will be reviewed, including new ones currently being tested.

Meet the Presenter
Dr Katerina Hilari is a Professor of Acquired Communication Disorders at City, University of London. She is a Trustee of Aphasia Re-Connect and a founding member of Aphasia United. From 2005-2015 she was Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Language and Communication Disorders. Katerina has received awards for research excellence (2011) and outstanding doctoral supervision (2015), and multiple research grants including from the NIHR and the Stroke Association.
